In which ways are the roles of men and women reversed in
music videos, referring closely to “I luh you papi” and “anaconda”?
The sexualisation of women has been evident across the whole
of the media for a significant amount of time now. Media texts often conform to the stereotypes
of women being passive, sexual, emotional and only there to cater to a man’s
needs. Some texts attempt to reverse these stereotypical gender roles like in
the videos “I luh you papi” and “anaconda”. This essay is an exploration of the
reversal of gender roles and how it is particularly done in these videos.
